Some of our favourite destinations across Southeast Asia

the edge uluwatu in bali

Bali

The name alone sounds mystical & alluring – located on Bali’s southernmost coast lies Uluwatu, famed for its panoramic views and home to some of the island’s best beaches. Whilst the temple balances on the clifftop, it’s the luxury resorts which draw people in, including Alila, whose open plan villas assure privacy with uncompromised views – the next land South is Australia! From hip beach clubs overlooking surfing spots to new levels of luxury at the Bulgari Resort, there’s something for everyone. For your Instagram moment, look no further than The Edge and Oneeighty – featuring their glass-bottomed Sky Pool sitting 160m above the ocean. This is just the South… imagine how much more of Bali there is to see!

elephant hills in phuket

PHUKET

You may not believe it at first, but Phuket definitely hits our list for luxury destinations. From bustling tourist spots to tranquil beaches, this region has lots to offer. When visiting this region, we recommend splitting your trip into 2 or 3 sectors, so you can explore the different areas. Kata, Karon & Patong Beaches are amongst the most popular on the Southwest Coast, or head North to Bang Tao Beach; one of the longest on the island, but there’s so much more… Elephant sanctuaries in the heart of the jungle to remote islands accessed by speedboat to luxury villas perched on the edge of the ocean – what does your Thailand adventure look like?

gardens by the bay, singapore

SINGAPORE

Known as the melting pot of Asia, Singapore is a truly spectacular city. With it’s architecturally impressive skyline & luminescent gardens lighting up the city, a visit to this Capital (and country) never disappoints. From the colonial-styled Raffles to the futuristic looking Marina Bay Sands, there’s a luxury hotel for every type of traveller. The city & surroundings are incredibly diverse; from Gardens by the Bay with a show-stopping display, to Orchard Road – a shopping district lined with high-end boutiques – to Sentosa, the beach island where you can also find Universal Studios Singapore. The food scene here is incredible, too. From Michelin-starred restaurants to street markets filled with flavours, you’re in for a treat – especially over Chinese New Year!

NHA TRANG

Vietnam has so much to offer, but this coastal city in Southern Vietnam is on our radar for its beaches, diving & offshore islands. The cable car across to Hon Tre Island is an absolute must! It’s also known as the seafood capital of Vietnam, as the waters off the Khanh Hoa coast supply the streetside eateries, restaurants & even luxury hotels with fresh catches daily. Don’t worry; Hon Mon Island is a protected marine reserve, perfect for a spot of snorkelling. Just a short journey from the city you’ll find heaven in the form of the Six Senses Ninh Van Bay – an eco-luxe resort with just 58 stunning villas, only accessible by water. Offering unrivalled luxury along with endangered monkey conservation, you may find it hard to leave this piece of paradise.

angkor wat in cambodia

CHIANG RAI

You’ll find temples & waterfalls galore in Chiang Rai, one of Northern Thailand’s somewhat lesser known tourism destinations. Within reach of the borders between Laos & Myanmar, you’re likely to visit Chiang Rai on a tour of the famous Golden Triangle. Typical Thai culture is to share food (not necessarily with strangers!) and eat local – which is why you’ll rarely find any all-inclusive resorts here – so a visit to the Night Bazaar is a must for a beer & a bite. ‘What about the luxury’, you ask? The Four Seasons Tented Camp is wonderfully opulent. Despite the rainforest setting, king-sized beds, hot tubs on the wooden terraces and gourmet cuisine are on the menu for your traditional elephant trek.

the datai langkawi

LANGKAWI

Forested hills, romantic white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters await in Langkawi, an archipelago off Malaysia’s Northwest coast. You may have twinned your stay here with a visit to the Capital of Kuala Lumpur, but if you’re still searching for an adventure, take the cable car to the top of Machincang mountain and brave the SkyBridge, carving a path high above the treetops. If you’re simply searching for paradise, then a host of luxury resorts are waiting for you, including The Ritz Carlton, The St Regis and notably, The Datai, nestled in the heart of an ancient rainforest and on the shores of a pristine beach, with a focus towards wellbeing, conservation & reconnecting.
